El expo en Mexico fue un enorme éxito

Generally, on day three of a tradeshow, exhibitors take the time to talk to each other and their products and solutions. Expo de Seguridad is a little bit different. The show hours are extended into the morning, which seemed odd, but there is quite a bit of traffic after the 2 p.m. hour. Everyone is anxiously engaged.

I bumped into more friends from the United States, all of whom find the Mexico City security market flourishing and growing.

ComNet. Skip Haight, vice president of marketing, said the company has released upgrades in it all new CopperLine Ethernet of COAX/UTP distance exceeding product line. It offers extended distance transmission with pass-through PoE, and it can act as a PoE power source. The products are designed for applications where existing copper media, such as coaxial cable or twisted pair is currently installed.

Continental Access. Scott Schramme heads up one of four NAPCO business units and is a fellow Texan. He said growth in Mexico is flourishing, and he mailing works with valued added resellers in the country. He said sales are up; following that crazy dip in growth from 2009 to 2010, and that Mexico is and has been a strong market for them.

Axis Communications. Fernando Estaban, country manager, said this is his 13th tradeshow in Mexico City and has seen it grow quickly. During his first tradeshow he contracted for some leftover space but today, Axis has one of the largest booths and is a major presence. Thirteen years ago he was the "guy with the (IP) gadget" but today is showing state of the art technology. His mission: Make a safer world.

Expo de Seguridad is a little bit different in terms of exhibitors. There are plenty of sellers with lots of stuff for the personal security guard. I picked up a Mendoza 9 mm, which is magazine fed in the grip, and is a lightweight weapon meant to discourage an attacker.

There are numerous distributors at the tradeshow that sell every conceivable security object. It is a good tradeshow that continues to grow. Local organizers do a great job to keep it going.
